This is a unique 1930s Streamline Moderne Bed and nightstand in flame/tiger maple and burlwood. The lines are crisp and the pieces are well proportioned. The base of each piece features a ziggurat shaped foot. I believe the suite is British made due to its exercise in restraint design-wise. The headboard reaches 39.875" and consists of a panel with two burl stripes. The top of the headboard is currently painted white, a modification most like to "brighten" it up, but I believe it was originally ebonized. The baseboard has a rounded top rail, also currently painted, two burl stripes in line with the headboard, and casters to assist with moving. The side rails are cast iron. The nightstand is rectangular and features a half circle cut out front, the same ziggurat shaped feet, and a drawer. The drawer hardware is original with Art Deco brasses and wooden handle. The interior space for a mattress is: 54.25" x 76.25" x 12" x 10.5" (12" is mattress and box spring height prior to finished part of headboard -10.5" is mattress and box spring height prior to finished part of foot board) Maximum mattress and box spring height would be recommended at 13.5". DIMENSIONS x1 Headboard: 56.5" x 3.5" x 39.875" x1 Foot Board: 57" x 2.75" x 21.75" x2 Rails: 79.25" x 1.5" x 4.5" x1 Nightstand: 17.875" x 14.25" x 26.25" x5 Interior Slats: 54" x 2.25" x .75"

Condition Notes
Light dings and scratches, some cracking and chips to veneer on nightstand. The bed was at some point painted where you see white. It looks like under the paint that the finish was much darker, possibly ebonized for contrast with the tiger maple.
